Audi Issues #QuattroChallenge to Pittsburgh’s Canton Avenue

March 14th, 2016 by

Don’t let the luxury fool you—the A4 is tough!  Audi A4 Quattro challenged Beechview’s Canton Avenue to prove that it could take on any street in any road conditions. Canton, however, is no ordinary street: Its 37% gradient has been recorded as the steepest public street in the world.

The automaker teamed up with four Red Bull athletes for this vertical challenge: Audi works driver and DTM champion Mattias Ekström, freestyle skier Bene Mayr, professional snowboarder Heikki Sorsa and US downhill mountain biker Aaron Gwin. Adding to the Audi challenge, they had to perform on the hill covered in gravel, mud, snow and sand! Ekström even takes them for an extra ride up the 200-yard hill in the A4.

Audi won this round.

As luck would have it, the shoot took place just a few blocks from Cochran’s Audi showroom. We stored the A4s that were used in the commercial. Our Audi Service Advisor Patrick McCulloch (pictured below with Ekström) was at the scene taking lots of pictures.

You can also take a look at the video below, and see for yourself how the Audi A4 handled the elements.
