#1 Cochran Participates in Drive-By Parade for Penn Trafford Kindergarten Student Battling Cancer

#1 Cochran joined the Level Green students, staff, plus dozens of car club and community members on Saturday, April 24^th to show their support for a Kindergarten student diagnosed with High-Grade Soft Tissue Sarcoma with a surprise drive-by parade. Participants met at the elementary school to coordinate the parade line at noon. The parking lot, roundabout, and both sides of the street leading to the school filled with every type of vehicle one could imagine!

2021 Subaru WRX in Red- Oli’s favorite car in his favorite color!

Oliver Tester, 5, is a student at Level Green Elementary school. He has had several surgeries and is undergoing radiation. Level Green Elementary Teachers Emilie Shogan and Nicole Adasczik designated April 9, 2021, as a day for students to wear yellow—the ribbon color that represents sarcoma or bone cancer—to show support for Tester. The staff will present the student with over $2,000 raised for his medical expenses during the parade.

Adasczik reached out to #1 Cochran to ensure that Tester’s favorite vehicle, the Subaru WRX, made an appearance. Covid-19 took the opportunity from us in 2020 to continue with similar events that we do. “Our Monroeville and Butler stores deliver blankets & arts and crafts kits to pediatric cancer patients with our partners at the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society,” said Kevin James, Social & Community Coordinator for #1 Cochran. “Whether it’s a hospital wing or one child, we could not pass up the opportunity to use one of our vehicles to brighten a kid’s day.” We went a step further than just finding the vehicle he likes. Our team from Butler personally drove down a WRX in red, which is Oli’s favorite color.

James also reached out to members of the Pittsburgh car scene, like the “Slowbaru” group, who could not wait to show Tester their customized Subarus and their support for him. “I’m glad to do something like this,” said Chris Risher, “this kid deserves all the cars!”

Teachers relayed to us after the parade that Oli jumped up and down in excitement when he saw the WRX’s ride down his street. We are honored to have had the opportunity to take part in something so fun and supportive. We’re always rooting for you at #1 Cochran, Oli!
