#1 Cochran Celebrates 50th Anniversary

2017-pacifica-home-gallery_01Pittsburgh, PA—August 20, 2015— #1 Cochran, the leading automotive retailer in Western Pennsylvania, is proud to announce its 50th Anniversary. Since 1965, #1 Cochran has sold nearly half a million vehicles and grown from one small Pontiac dealership in North Braddock to 23 dealerships representing 16 brands around the Pittsburgh region.

To kick off its 50th Anniversary celebration, #1 Cochran hosted a celebratory event on August 20, 2015 at Braddock’s Battlefield History Center, the original site of the first #1 Cochran dealership, Cochran Pontiac. During the event they also presented a check to the Braddock and North Braddock communities.

“The Braddock area has always been a special place to us as the neighborhood #1 Cochran originally called home,” Rob Cochran, #1 Cochran President and CEO said. “We couldn’t think of a more worthwhile way to celebrate our 50th anniversary than to give back to the community where we started.”

A $50,000 donation was made by #1 Cochran to the Braddock area, with each community receiving $25,000. The North Braddock donation will be allocated to the North Braddock Housing Fund and toward the preservation of the history center.

“The North Braddock community is very grateful for #1 Cochran’s donation, which can easily be used towards one of the many ongoing projects in our borough,” Mayor Thomas Whyel of North Braddock said. “In addition, the donation to the history center will help to keep this valuable community asset thriving, and continue to ensure that it remains a special place to celebrate the important history in our area.”

Part of #1 Cochran’s donation to Braddock will be used toward a new car for the Braddock Police Department.

“For a brand-new police car, I gladly offered to dress up with my police chief in chicken suits for a week and wave to customers,” Mayor John Fetterman of Braddock said. “However, with #1 Cochran, there was no fine print—they just wanted to help. It’s a truly wonderful thing; not only a brand new police car—but equally meaningful—#1 Cochran is proud to salute and celebrate its origins in Braddock. On behalf of our community, we want to say thank you to #1 Cochran and congratulations on your first 50 years. Here’s to 50 more!”

The event also featured other area supporters including Chef Kevin Sousa (who is set to open his newest restaurant, Superior Motors, in Braddock), and Brew Gentlemen Beer Company (headquartered in Braddock), who served guests in attendance.

This milestone year will continue to feature more of the expansion, sales celebrations and transparency in the form of Clearly Better Car Buying that have become synonymous with #1 Cochran. In addition to a major 50th anniversary sales event with special offers on all current brands, #1 Cochran also held a grand opening sales event for their new premier brand, Audi Pittsburgh, which opened on July 15, 2015 on West Liberty Avenue in Dormont.

“Since my father opened our first store in 1965 our goal has been simple,” Mr. Cochran said. “We want to give customers the best selection and the best price, and between our 50th anniversary, Audi Pittsburgh’s grand opening and all of our other new additions, it’s truly a great time for our brand and most importantly for our customers.”

The new Audi Pittsburgh’s opening comes on the heels of several other new dealerships. #1 Cochran recently added a second Mazda showroom, simultaneously opened two Infiniti galleries, and in June 2015, expanded further north with its new Subaru of Butler County store, the second #1 Cochran Subaru location.

“We never stop working to improve the customer experience,” Mr. Cochran said. “Anything we can do to make it easier for customers to get the car they want, we’ll gladly do. That’s what Clearly Better Car Buying is all about. And that’s what’s driven us for the past 50 years.”
